Electrification Coalition | News

The electrification report (Nov 2009) published by the Electrification Coalition is very detailed; needs a few hours to digest the details. It appears to attempt to give a brief history of the sector and highlights challenges and potential road blocks ahead. In some areas it serves as a Primer.

We see that Ray Lane of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Carlos Ghosn of Nissan Motors, Peter Corsell of GridPoint, Frederick Smith of FedEx and last but not least David Vieau of A123 are among the coalition members.

Just read this report this morning. It is by far the best I have seen to make a case as to why this should happen. The Coalition asks for help, and they should, however I feel it should be noted that electrifying the transportation sector is a net positive for countries, even accounting for any assistance or policy enhancements. Electric transportation is not a charity case- it is a major, step forward from the fossil fuels era.

And as with any investment we make, it should be of a nature that it would succeed without outside, government help.
